| Department of English in Sacred Heart College was started as a self financing course in 2009. The first batch consists of 70 students under the able guidance of 5 well qualified staff with Mr. Jesu Stephen Saamy as it’s first HOD. Later in his place Mrs.Durga Devi took charge as HOD and remained for the year 2009-2010.During the academic year of 2009-10 the budding department with full spirit backed up by the fleet of 6 faculties went on to win the inter-departmental Drama competition, which became the first victory under our belt . later the victory run continued as we won the inter-departmental quiz competition. Mas. D.R.Rahul was the Student Secretary, and Mas Paul Abraham was the joint secretary. We had our experiences for the first time in sports day. In the first cultural fest our department faced, we ended up in 5th place out of 7 departments and also obtaining a cash price of rs.500. In the first year our department was privileged to conduct our first inter collegiate programme in the form of inter collegiate paper presentation on common errors in english |
